The Open Source Windows Explorer Emerge Desktop is a replacement of the desktop environment provided by Windows Explorer by default. The software is a freeware and can definitely help you make your desktop look stylish and clean!

The Open Source Windows Explorer provides a system tray called emergeTray and has a facility to provide access to the users programs thats normally accessed with the windows”start” button, via, a right-click on the desktop( i.e via the emergeCore).

With Microsoft releasing more detailed information about these API calls, the MinGW win32api is known to be much more complete.

A great thing about this Windows Explorer Substitute is that it also allows users to adjust the transparency and colour of the applets. To do that, an user can select the Edit Current Scheme from the applet’s menu which will display the Emerge Desktop Scheme Editor where you can change the colours, transparency and other settings through a user friendly interface. After modifying the scheme you can save it under a new name and load it which is cool!
